Although the RFE team to Turkey was announced in November, it wasn't until January 6 that we had our first team meeting. It was great to meet everybody. Actually, I knew Lonna from years ago, and Steve knows her and Betsy from Rotary. The other team members are Jeanne and Dick from Rochester, Joanne and Jack from Roseville, Craig from Stillwater (if I remember correctly) and Jim from Wisconsin (town escapes me at the moment). It was great fun to sit around the dining room table at Joanne and Jack's and start getting acquainted. There were lots of things to discuss. Probably the most pressing was to get our travel plans decided. Five of us are going to arrive a few days early and spend time in Istanbul before meeting the rest of the gang in Ankara on May 24. From there we will be staying with families in several different places in the central part of Turkey. We will head for home again on June 4. Our tickets are purchased. We will be traveling with Jeanne and Dick; Jim will meet us in Istanbul. We all plan to stay in the same hotel in the "old city." The adrenaline is definitely flowing.
